DJ Mac

Here is a brief history of how I became a DJ.

History

It all started in 1987 when I was 12 years old. I was a student at St. Matthews grade school. I was attending one of the school dances. There I met the DJ at the dance Jimmy Blunt. Jimmy ran his own DJ business called the J.B. Express. It just so happens that one of my friends worked for Jimmy and I begged him to get a job with him. After weeks of begging and pleading with my friend and Jimmy he let me join the group and ironically my first gig was a St. Matthews dance. I have been hooked ever since. Fortunately my parents saw how interested I was in learning how to DJ they decided to but me my first set of turntables when I was 14. (I still have and use the same set to this very day) After countless hours of being what I call a so called bedroom DJ I was ready for prime time. Fortunately some of the other DJ's in the group were older than I was and I had the memorable experience DJing at some of the hottest night spots around town when I was 16 years old. I know what your thinking how could I get into a night club when I was only 16 years old? Lets just say I was always fortunate to have friends in the right places.

Places and Events I Have DJ-ed

Over the years I have done countless wedding receptions, school dances , beef and beers, and other special events.  At the end of 1999 my friend and fellow DJ Dan Bargelski (DJ Smoo) decided to form a patnership called Mixologist Productions. You may have seen me out some where I have done a lot work in the local bars and night clubs. I used to DJ at Bankshots on Union St. I was the main DJ for all of the Wilmington City Loops. I have also DJ-ed at Casa D' Amici for about a year. I have also DJ at the Chesapeake Inn. I did Canal Day for 5 years in a row and a 1 or 2 weekend summer nights up until the end of summer 2007.
